What you will do - Essential responsibilities

* Build and maintain automated marketing programs in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform and associated services
* Understand the real-life challenges of customers and discover what they need to move seamlessly between the online and in-person shopping experiences
* Collaborate with colleagues in marketing, design, product management and systems architecture to develop experimental solutions, pilot technology, and functionality
* Advise on strategic fit of technology and scaled solutions for enterprise
* Market your new ideas internally and evolve them according to feedback and critique within an agile environment
* Partner with Salesforce on platform innovation, trends, best practices and DevOps maturity
* Plan and implement solutions to optimize the delivery pipeline
* Onboard new product and marketing teams to the platform
* Provide technical consulting and scalable engineering solutions to marketing and product teams
* Ability to explain complex technical solutions to non-technical audience
* Review and implement new tools, capabilities, and automation
* Create solution diagrams, technical runbooks, documentation and training
* Foster strategic planning and vision
* In conjunction with Enterprise and Solution Architects, define and provide architectural guidelines, practices and standards
* Implement platform security and stability solutions
* Partner with front-end developers on customer communications
* Encourage and foster innovation

Technical Expertise:

* Ability to engage in support situation and effectively, efficiently, and quickly drive to a successful resolution
* Proven experience leveraging existing software, development of reusable components, and elimination of redundancy in designs
* Understanding of end-to-end system design, from the top to the bottom of the stack
* Ability to learn the system, including downstream systems, outage impacts, and limitations
* 3+ years of ExactTarget / Salesforce Marketing Cloud application development experience required
* Working knowledge of programming languages/platforms such as C#, .Net, Azure, cloud-based SaaS and PaaS solutions is preferred
* 5+ years of experience working with an RDBMS such as MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server
* Experience with cloud hosted solutions such as Azure, AWS, Google
* Experience with web services (SOAP/REST), ETL, and other standard integration techniques

Qualifications and requirements

* Demonstrated ability to gather, evaluate, and present performance metrics and benchmarks to resolve or prevent system problems
* Evaluate and interpret complex system error logs, performance metrics, and other application or server output in order to identify problems in server performance or application execution
* Familiarity with security standards such as TLS, SSL, SSO and data encryption
* Experience in dual track agile with matrix managed product teams
* Proven experience working effectively with multiple areas of the business community in order to gather requirements and translate those requirements into solutions
* Demonstrated ability to compare and contrast alternative approaches to meet objectives while assessing risk both quantitatively and qualitatively
* Evaluate the ROI (Return On Investment) of systems development & enhancements and effectively weigh the financial alternatives involved with various technical solutions and proposals
* Proven experience solving technical problems and presenting solutions
* Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
* Demonstrated ability to effectively estimate effort, duration and impact required to accomplish requested tasks/projects
* Evaluate long term impacts when making recommendations and decisions
* Possess strong organizational and time management skills
* Document findings and solutions that meet the business needs
* Present alternative solutions to technology management and business users
* Possess effective presentation development and delivery skills including the ability to adjust presentations to match appropriate audience

* Participate in all Agile ceremonies, including Sprint planning, SCRUM, Discovery Sessions and Retrospectives

* Take ownership in resolving critical production issues when needed
* Self-organize and multi-task in a highly collaborative team environment
* Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation as scheduled, and perform after hours support as needed
* A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
* Certified in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer and/or Marketing Cloud Consultant is preferred

Salesforce

* 3+ years of experience as Marketing Cloud developer and/or administrator managing data structures, subscriber data management, configurations, dynamic messages, landing pages
* Expertise and hands-on experience with Marketing Cloud Builders and Studios, including Journey Builder, Content Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio
* Expertise in Marketing Cloud scripting languages (AMPscript, JavaScript, SJSS)
* Develop responsive email templates with extensive knowledge of AMPscript
* Fluency implementing automated solutions utilizing Marketing Cloud Server-Side JavaScript
* Experience with front-end development building cloud pages HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AMPscript
* Extensive knowledge of Marketing Cloud's contact data model, data configuration, advanced segmentation and proficiency with SQL
* Extensive experience with Journey Builder and Audience Builder configurations
* Experience with email and/or marketing automation software and integration with databases
* Solid understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud custom application design including knowledge of limits, throttling, security, APIs, etc., on the Salesforce platform.
* Knowledge of Marketing Cloud Connector and integrating with other Salesforce Cloud types
* Experience with API First design and implementation. FFLib experience a bonus.

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA Technology Innovation Center or Dallas Tech Hub in Plano, TX and have a Hybrid work arrangement
